Adult ADHD Evaluation:

Undiagnosed or ineffectively treated attention deficit disorders can have serious consequences for individuals, families and our communities.  Children with ADD may underachieve or fail in school, develop poor self esteem, or have problems socially.  Adolescents are more prone to depression and substance abuse.  Adults are 1.7 times more likely to be fired, twice as likely to be divorced or separated, and six times more likely to have a suspended driver’s license.  The risk for nicotine dependence is far greater in individuals with ADD and with it, the subsequent health burden that results.

Over the past decade, our understanding of attention deficit disorders has grown tremendously, and with it there are now more effective diagnostic tools and treatment options.

The ADHD Evaluation at the Brichel Center is unique in that it uses comprehensive diagnostic and treatment approaches.

Our diagnosis relies on:

Treatment options include:

Our goal is to diagnose or rule out the condition as effectively as possible, and, if the diagnosis of ADD is made, to find the safest and most effective treatments for each individual.  We also appreciate the fact that while in some settings, the symptoms associated with ADD may be a liability for some, but in other settings, these symptoms can be effectively turned into assets. That is, we try to help individuals and families manage their symptoms, and when possible, use them to their advantage.

Finally, we also are aware of the many comorbidities that can accompany ADD and at Brichel we are in a position to, when necessary, make referrals to better understand comorbid conditions and to get them treated.
