Baseline Memory Testing:
Baseline memory testing at Brichel provides a thorough assessment of brain-based memory functions. Though not specifically diagnostic in nature, baseline memory testing can differentiate Mild Cognitive Impairment from normal, age-related cognitive changes. Specific and standardized baseline testing can be compared to future testing to facilitate early identification of dementia later in life.
In addition to the assessment described in
Memory Consultation, a carefully selected battery of neuropsychological tests is administered to identify individual strengths and weaknesses in particular memory functions. A Memory Clinic client should plan to spend approximately two hours at our office for baseline testing. Individual tests are scored and evaluated in comparison to established norms for a client's age and educational level. Clients will receive a written report of their testing results, our recommendations for follow-up, and/or our recommendations for life-style changes to maintain or improve memory functions.
