Memory Consultation:
A Memory Consultation provides immediate feedback on possible contributors to memory problems. A consultation includes a formal review of personal and family medical history to define or rule out genetic risk factors for dementia, review of personal lifestyle factors with implications for memory functioning, standardized assessment of emotional status, and a one-hour clinical interview with a brief memory screening.
Prior to their consultation appointment, a client will have completed and returned an extensive questionnaire and two self-administered assessment tools. The consulting clinician will review this material with the client in more detail and identify factors that may be influencing memory functions. Clients will leave a Memory Consultation with clear recommendations for appropriate medical or psychological follow-up, further neurological or neuropsychological assessment, and/or suggested life-style changes to maintain or improve memory functions.
