Who We Are:
The co-founders and Clinical Directors of the Brichel Center for Neurodevelopment are Joshua Gear, MD and William Mautz, Ph.D.
Joshua Gear, MD
Joshua Gear is Board Certified in Child and Adolescent, Adult, and Addiction Psychiatry. He received his Medical Degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago where he also completed a Residency in General Psychiatry. He completed a Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Yale Child Study Center.
Dr. Gear spent two years directing an inpatient adolescent unit at Riverview Hospital for Children and Youth in Connecticut, and has been a Clinical Instructor in Psychiatry at both Yale and Harvard Medical Schools. He has been in private practice in Portsmouth for several years.
William Mautz, Ph.D.
William Mautz received formal training in neuropsychology at Children's Hospital- Harvard Medical School, Children's Hospital-Northwestern Medical School, and the University of Chicago Hospitals. He earned his Ph.D. in Child Clinical Psychology at DePaul University following a Masters in Education from Harvard University.
Dr. Mautz founded Children's Neuropsychological Services in Andover, Massachusetts. Joining Dr. Mautz at CNS are neuropsychologists on staff at major medical institutions in the Boston area, including Massachusetts General Hospital and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

Wendy McKernon, Ph.D.
Wendy McKernon received formal training in neuropsychology at the Bedford VA Hospital, Boston University School of Medicine and the University of Chicago Hospitals. She earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Loyola University in Chicago.
Sandra Lovell, RN, MSW

Sandra Lovell is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. She earned her M.S.W from the University of Connecticut, and has practiced in the seacoast area for more than twenty years. Ms. Lovell has also worked as an RN in both medical and psychiatric settings.
Johanna Mautz, MSW, LICSW

Johanna Mautz is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. She earned her MSW from Boston University with a specialization in Children and Adolescents. She has practiced for more than ten years in medical, school, and community-based settings including the Judge Baker Children's Center in Boston and Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago.

Priscilla Healy White is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. She earned her MA in counseling Psychology from Boston College and her MSW from the Smith College School for Social Work. She has practiced in school and community based settings for more than 20 years.
